I’m feeling all half-way-through-the-yearish! Are you?! And I know it’s been said a thousand times, but Holy Moly, doesn’t time just FLY?!

If you’re feeling this way too,  you might want to make these four businessy lists! They are fun, easy AND super-helpful.  And a nice way to start the next six months. YES?!

1. A what-worked-what-didn’t list

July is a fab time to take stock and this a GOOD way to do it!

Just get a big piece of paper (A4 or bigger), draw a line down the middle to make two columns. Head one column “What Worked” and the other “What didn’t work”

Now think about the last six months and write down as many things as you can think in each column. Get super-specific. So rather than writing, say, “Marketing” under “What didn’t work”, write down the particular aspect that didn’t work (“the leaflet drop, the ad in the local paper”)

It might take you a few days to really get this done as there’s a bit of remembering involved! So leave the paper on your desk or the kitchen bench so you can come back to it when you think of something else!

And that’s it! When you’re finished you’ll feel better about the stuff that didn’t work, fabulous about the stuff that did AND you’ll be full of good ideas! YUP! It always works like that!

2.  A stuff-I-must-do-in-the-next-six-months list

Remember all the stuff you planned to do this year?! Eek! Where did those six month go?

Well, now’s a fab time to do a list of the stuff you want to get done before the end of the year. And make the list very little. Yes VERY LITTLE! I know that sounds terribly unambitious but it’s actually the best way of getting the really important stuff done.  Kinda keeps you focussed and uncluttered.

3. A STOP-doing list

I’ve written a little bit about STOP doing lists before and really, they are ACE!

For your July STOP doing list, start by listing five things you could stop doing. I know that it’s tricky to find five, but doing kinda forces you into having a big think.

When you’ve got at least five, re-read the list and pick one of those to stop doing. Really stop-doing. Like now. Today!

To stop doing something is very freeing (Honestly! Try it!) plus it gives you extra time to work on new stuff (like the things in your stuff-I-must-do-in-the-next-six-months list!)

4. A people-I-need-to-get-back-in-touch-with list

Here’s a thing! We’re usually super-excellent at wishing customers, potential customers, suppliers and businessy friends a Happy Christmas/Happy New Year, but, y’know, we’re pretty lousy at keeping in touch during the year! Which is a shame because these connections are super useful stuff for marketing etc.

So a grand thing to do in July is a getting-in-touch blitz!

Start by making a list of all the people you should be keeping up with. And then just do it!

And that’s it! Four super-useful businessy lists to make in July. Whaddya think?! ♥
